Built-In ADA Support

Windows PCs have built-in Accessibility Options which:

  • Increases the size of type and other onscreen operating system elements to assist those with visual impairments.
  • Adds visual notifications for Windows system sound events to assist those with hearing impairments.
  • Adds captions or other visual indicators to assist those with hearing impairments.

Mac and Linux stations have similar ADA support built in.

All PC and Mac computer systems are equipped with headphone jacks. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own headphones or earphones for use in the labs.

ADA-Accessible Workstations

Two ADA-accessible workstations are available in the lab on the first floor of Robeson Library. They are in the reference area; inquire at Reference Desk for the exact location. A keyboard, headphones and other accessories may also be obtained at the Reference Desk.

Requesting Other Technologies

Inquire at the Help Desk if there is a particular ADA-related piece of software or hardware that is needed. Other OIT divisions at Rutgers may have the item(s) in their inventory and may be able to lend them.
